Both of my children attend Happy Hearts Preschool and Childcare. My son (4.5 yrs) started when he was 10 months old and my daughter (4mo) has been there since she was six weeks old. It is very difficult for my to put my children in daycare. I was a stay-at-home mom and generally do not trust anyone with my children. I had looked at several daycare centers and various in-home daycare centers. If I had to schedule a time to come and see the daycare, I didn’t trust the daycare (what did they have to hide or clean up?) By the grace of God I found Edith Gates, the owner of Happy Hearts Preschool and Childcare. And she actually had a spot (she normally has a waiting list). She is truly amazing and passionate about childcare. She feeds my son three wholesome home-made meals a day with two snacks (usually fresh fruits) and accommodates to his special diet. For my 4-month-old, she makes HOME-MADE ORGANIC baby food, which is super important to me. When my son was about two and a half, she potty trained him in a week. She gave me potty-training rules to follow, and it was smooth sailing. She is a retired dentist, so she checks my son’s teeth between annual dentist visits, makes him brush and floss after meals and does not have sugary food, except for the parties that she has for the kids on birthdays and holidays. She does NOT have televisions in her daycare which was a big turnoff to me at other places. I believe Edith ended up getting a degree in child development on top of medical education; and her assistants have child development units. Education is important to her (and to me, of course); she has a great pre-school curriculum. Even though she speaks great English, her primary language is Spanish, therefore, speaks to the children in Spanish and does her lessons in Spanish and English. At the age of two, my son knew his ABCs, Days of Week, months, colors and numbers 1-20 in english and spanish.
As for my daughter, she is always happy and clean when I pick her up. Edith takes her a bath, gives her daily baby massages and plays with her throughout the day. At other daycares that I had visited, I saw an alarming daycare-teacher to baby ratio, so it was obvious some babies will not be held throughout the day, which is really sad to me (and to any parent, I’m sure). Edith generally has 1-2 assistants throughout the day. Whenever I pop in unannounced, Edith or her assistants seem to always be carrying either my daughter or the other babies.
The only negative thing I can say about Edith is: she does not come cheap. But from my research, she charges about market price, especially since she provides breakfast lunch and dinner. I am not a rich person, so of course I looked into cheaper daycares. From my experience in life, you get what you pay for. I am an extremely crazy, paranoid, germaphophobic mother, so knowing my babies are safe and being well-cared for in a CLEAN environment, is worth it. I am extremely thankful for Edith, which is why I decided to take the time to write this review.

When me and my wife had to go back to work after having our first child, finding a day care provider was something very important to the both of us for our daughter. We wanted to have a day care provider that would truly care for our child, take interest in her development, help her learn new things and provide a safe and happy place for our daughter to grow up. We couldn’t have asked for a better daycare provider than Edith Gates at Happy Hearts Preschool and Childcare. From the first time we went to meet her, Edith talked to our daughter, held her and took a genuine interest in her. From that point, we knew we had found the person.
The first day leaving our daughter at daycare was hard. But when we went to pick her up, she was smiling and you could tell she had a great day. And it was due to the loving, caring, nurturing environment Edith and her staff have created.
Edith takes time to learn about each child, has lesson plans and creates a happy environment where the kids learn to interact with each other and treat each other with respect. We have been taking our daughter there since she was five months old and she is an integral part of our daughter’s education and development. Not only does she teach the kids in Spanish, she creates lesson plans that make learning fun, from arts and crafts projects to a “classroom” environment with the other children. She teaches the kids to be respectful to each other.
Edith provides pictures and videos of how our daughter’s day is going so we can see and know our daughter is okay. If our daughter becomes sick or something happens, Edith lets us know right away.
One of the main things I liked was the fact there are no televisions at all. The food is home made. Wednesday’s are pancake day for breakfast and our daughter looks forward to Wednesdays, she knows she gets pancakes and she can’t wait.
As great as Edith is, her staff is just as good. You can tell they genuinely care about our daughter and devote just as much time and effort to helping our child grow. Our daughter continues to amaze us with what she learns and absorbs and Edith is a big part of that. Our daughter (who is almost 2) knows all of her “buddies” by name as well as Edith and her staff. When we ask our daughter if she is ready to go see her buddies and Edith, she gets excited and says YES!!
Leaving your child with someone else can be a scary proposition because of all the unknowns. But leaving our daughter at Happy Hearts Preschool and Childcare has made that transition a smooth and easy one.
Our daughter is happy, healthy and learns new things everyday and she genuinely enjoys going to day care everyday. A big thanks to Edith and her staff, they have been amazing with our daughter and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better.

My son Dustyn 5 years now has been attending Happy Hearts Preschool and Childcare with Edith Gates and her assistance since he was just about 2 years old. We absolutely love it!!! Prior to Happy Hearts Preschool and Childcare he attended 2 other daycares that I really didn’t feel he was happy with nor was I. I searched for a better place for him, being a single mom working various hours wasn’t easy finding a place I could trust him going to. I feel my son is always in good hands with Mrs Edie and her amazing assistance . They are always having fun reading, doing educational projects and he comes home excited to tell me all about his day. I leave knowing he is safe and loved. Mrs Edie and her assistance are so wonderful and passionate with what they do they even take the time to send me pictures of him interacting with his peers, reading, writing and playing. Mrs Edie and her assistance teach Dustyn a lot and also show me a lot as well because after all; he’s pretty much grown up here. I would HIGHLY recommend Happy Hearts Preschool and Childcare to anyone who is currently looking for a trustworthy and reliable childcare.

I have to say that Happy Hearts Preschool and Childcare is a mother’s and fathers dream come true, especially for first time mothers getting ready to go back to work! Edi and her assistants go above and beyond which is an understatement. My baby was 3 months old when she started daycare at Happy Hearts Preschool and Childcare. The moment I came to visit I knew this was the place she needed to be. They even have cameras monitoring everything, super clean and neat areas for the kids. I was constantly being updated with pictures and videos of my baby which was so comforting as well as a detailed report of everything she did everyday including feeding times, how many diaper changes she was given, nap times etc. Edith Gates is truly an Angel and perfect at what she does. I would recommend everyone that is looking for daycare to contact her.
